Our Staff
The staff at Wellspring Therapy is comprised of many highly trained and educated specialists.
- Most of our therapists have graduate degrees; some have doctoral degrees.
- Special credentials: Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS).
- Through continuing education, our therapists are kept up to date with the newest techniques and therapeutic innovation. Many of them have extensive training in manual therapy.
- All therapists are active in national and state Occupational, Physical and Hand Therapy associations.
- We speak English, Spanish, Armenian, Chinese, Tagalog and Korean.
For over 20 years, Laura has been practicing as an occupational therapist and certified hand therapist. Since receiving her Master of Arts and Master of Occupational Therapy degrees, she has worked extensively in hand rehabilitation. In 1991, she successfully passed the first national board examination and was among the charter group of practitioners to be designated as a Certified Hand Therapist. She is a graduate of the Arthritis Foundation Health Professional Fellowship Program and past president of the Southern California Hand Special Interest Group (three consecutive terms). In addition to her extensive training and clinical experience, Laura has served as an ergonomic education consultant and has conducted training for PacifiCare, Lucky Grocery Stores, Unihealth Corporation, the Los Angeles Repetitive Strain Injury Support Group, and the Riverside Eastern Municipal Water District. She has also taught prevention of carpal tunnel syndrome at Glendale Community College. In 2005, Laura was honored by the California State Legislature and received the “Women in Business Award” for her accomplishments in business and her service to the community. Laura played competitive basketball while growing up in Shanghai, and is now an enthusiastic tennis player. She loves classical music and opera, and has served on a local theater board. Laura is married to Dr. Roger D. Stewart, a Senior Associate Dean at USC College , and has two beautiful children. | ||
Cindy Chu Phillips received her Master of Physical Therapy degree from Midwestern University. She holds a National Board Certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association. She has completed intensive, specialized training programs in manual orthopedic physical therapy and Women's health. She is the pioneer of the Women's Health program for Wellspring Therapy Inc., which specifically addresses women's issues dealing with pregnancy, urinary incontinence, and pelvic pain. Cindy's clinical skills enable her to provide the highest quality of care utilizing the most modern innovative techniques to rehabilitate her patients effectively. Cindy is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the APTA Section on Women's Health. In her free time, Cindy enjoys working out at the gym, watching sporting events, and spending time outdoors hiking in the local mountains or going to the beach. | ||
Margret Gopez Kim is a highly skilled therapist with nearly 10 years of experience, having worked in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. She received her Physical Therapy degree from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines; and after graduation she served there as an Adjunct Professor. Before joining the Wellspring Therapy team, she was a supervisor of physical therapy at Encino Hospital. Margret has received extensive training in ergonomic evaluation, myofascial release and manual therapy for the treatment of a wide spectrum of orthopedic and neurological conditions. Her professional memberships include the American Physical Therapy Association. Outside of work, Margret enjoys dancing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. | ||
Karina received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from San Diego State University and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. She completed a pre-professional cardiopulmonary residency at the Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Karina came into the physical therapy field to help people and make a positive difference in their lives. Becoming a physical therapist was a career dream that was realized through hard work and determination. Karina says, "Dreams come in a size too big so that you grow into them." Her new goal: becoming a Certified Orthopedic Specialist. Her interests include photography, art, music, exercising and spending time with family and friends. | ||
Jason received his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Florida State University and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami. He also speaks conversational Spanish. Jason advises, "Eat right and exercise." He enjoys sports like basketball and football, martial arts movies, spending time with family and friends and working out. | ||
John graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Long Beach. He became interested in the physical therapy field in high school when he began volunteering at the Transitional Care Unit at Henry Mayo Hospital. John enjoys practicing physical therapy because it gives him an opportunity to make significant changes in people's lives. Since college John has lived by the words of Frederick Douglass, "Without struggle there will be no progress." He is now studying to become a Certified Functional Manual Therapist at the Institute of Physical Art, Inc. He has also completed the full Maitland seminar series, which makes him eligible to sit for the certification for Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist through the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars. In the near future he plans to obtain his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. John enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling to see other countries and learning about other cultures, watching sports and movies, golfing, snowboarding, and training to run in marathons. | ||
Jesus received his Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from California State University, Northridge and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Sports Physical Therapy Section. His volunteer experience includes coaching little league baseball. He has previously worked as a personal trainer, and in the future plans to become a Certified Orthopedic Specialist. Jesus' goal is to serve as a model of physical therapy service to the community. He enjoys watching and playing sports, going to the gym, martial arts and traveling. | ||
Shelley has been practicing as a physical therapist for over 20 years. She has practiced in Hawaii for over 15 years, and returned to the "Mainland" to spend time with her grandchild. She loves people and the rewards of making a positive change in the lives of her patients. Shelley enjoys knitting, hockey, taiko drumming, bon dancing, hiking, opera, foreign films and spending time with her family. | ||
Allison received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science for the University of Kansas and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her goal is to make a positive difference in people's lives and promote healthy lifestyle with an improved quality of life. She wants to become a Certified Orthopedic Specialist in the future. Allison enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out, soccer and kickball. | ||
Meg earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University, and her Bachelor of Science in Exercise/Sport Science from Elon University in North Carolina. Meg decided to become a Physical Therapist after first having under gone physical therapy herself. In addition to her commitment to helping her patients regain function, she helps her patients learn how to prevent future injuries. | ||
David obtained his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Duke University and his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois. David first became interested in Physical Therapy in high school where he saw how Physical Therapy could rehabilitate athletes suffering from injuries. As a Physical Therapist, he has had the privilege of working with the athletic teams of Granada Hills High School including Football, Track, Basketball and Soccer. He enjoys traveling and scuba diving. | ||
Elizabeth received her Bachelor's degree from California State University, Los Angeles in Theatre Arts and Dance: Dance Option. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in California. Elizabeth also speaks fluent Armenian and some Spanish. She enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, yoga and reading. | ||
Kristy completed her training as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Cerritos City College. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from California State University, Fullerton and has an Associate's Degree from Cerritos City College. Kristy always likes to stay optimistic. In her free time, Kristy likes to read, go to the park and play with her kids. | ||
Louella obtained her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from California State University, Long Beach and her AA as s Physical Therapy Assistant from Cerritos Community College. Louella believes that the time is always right to reach your goals. She enjoys drawing, painting, running and having dinner with friends. | ||
Marilen received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She has had extensive training in treating job-related injuries and orthopedic hand injuries. She is a member of the Hand Therapy Society of Greater Los Angeles and the American Occupational Therapy Association. She was the first employee of Wellspring Therapy, since 1995. In addition to providing patient care, Marilen collaborates with administrative support in marketing operations. Outside the office, she devotes her time with her husband and two boys dining out, venturing parks, zoos and museums. | ||
Aimee earned her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Loma Linda University in 2000. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal impairments related to orthopedic hand, elbow, and shoulder injuries. Aimee is a California board certified Advanced Practitioner of hand therapy and modalities. She has extensive experience as an Occupational Therapist working closely with Orthopedic Hand Surgeons in the greater Los Angeles area for the past six years. Aimee is also a member of the Hand Therapy society of Greater Los Angeles. Away from the clinic, Aimee enjoys watching movies, spending time with family and friends, walking her dog, traveling the world and dining out. | ||
Thomas is a NBCOT certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with a specialty in pediatrics, which was inspired by his experience at Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. He also holds a certificate in Exercise Science and Program Design, and is an AFAA certified Personal Trainer. He enjoys working out, racquetball and snowboarding. | ||
Guile received his personal trainer certification from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America in 2004. He is the three time Overall Sports Power Lifting Champion in Bench Press Modality, and has placed at the NPC Eastern USA Championships and Muscle Beach Classics in Bodybuilding. Guile believes that there is no great achievement without great focus and effort. He enjoys weight training, tennis, rollerblading, snorkeling and scuba diving. | ||
Science, from California State University, Northridge. He is currently a student at the University of Southern California's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Kenny was certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Certified Personal Trainer and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Kenny has also been named Physical Best Health-Fitness Specialist from the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. Kenny is affiliated with the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, and the American Physical Therapy Association. His favorite pastimes include Football, Volleyball, Snowboarding, Skiing and Rock climbing. | ||
Narine received her Medical Assistant degree from Northwest College in 1999 and received her therapeutic massage certificate from Montebello Career College in 2001. She has been trained in Sports Massage, Foot Reflexology, Swedish massage and Shiatsu. She likes to spend her spare time with her family, and she is very involved in her church. She enjoys playing piano and singing. | ||
Lisa is attending California State University, Los Angeles and is studying to become a pediatric occupational therapist. She wants to become certified in hyppotherapy. Lisa loves to see her patients progress and get better. Her motto: "Always be Positive." Her hobbies include dance, volleyball, and acting. She enjoys trying out new restaurants, spending time with family and friends, playing with her dogs Buffy and Xena, and outdoor activities like cultural festivals and going to the zoo. | ||
Talia has experience in both inpatient and outpatient physical therapy. She enjoys her job because it allows her to help people and the see patients' progress. She is currently a student at Glendale Community College. Outside of work, she likes watching scary movies and spending time with her family. | ||
Liezlie received her Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from St. Paul University, Philippines. In addition to practicing physical therapy in the Philippines, she was actively involved in promoting outreach programs for rural communities and indigent patients. She is experienced in orthopedic cases, as well as neurological conditions. Patients appreciate her warm smile and friendly encouragement as they progress throught their treatments. While at work Liezlie has learned some Armenian and Spanish. In her spare time, Liezlie is an avid volleyball player and swimmer. | ||
Christopher is a full-time student at Glendale Community College and part-time Physical Therapy Technician at the Wellspring Therapy clinic in Glendale. Christopher's short-term goal is to transfer to a reputable university such as the University of Southern California or Azusa Pacific University. As for his long-term goal, Christopher hopes to be a successful, well-educated, and overall, resourceful doctor in the practice of Physical Therapy. At his leisure, Christopher enjoys adventuring, playing sports, music, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends. Last but not least, he is an active member in the youth ministry at a nearby church in Glendale. "If you're physically able, why not use the best of your ability to assist others who might need it more?" | ||
Manifa received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University, Northridge, and has received her Fitness Personal Training Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. While at CSUN she gained experience by teaching both Physical Education and Creative Dance to local elementary schools. She also worked with individuals with disabilities to help them achieve their goals. In her spare time, Manifa likes to work out, teach others about health, and spend time with her family and friends, as well as being involved at church. | ||
Greg received his Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Clinical Exercise from California State University, Fullerton. Greg wants to make a difference in peoples' lives and make a positive effect on each person he meets. A Los Angeles native, he enjoys playing sports, being outdoors, and seeing as much of the world as he can. His favorite sports are basketball and snowboarding, he also enjoys hiking, camping and kayaking. | ||
Manuel currently attends California State University, Northridge where he studies accounting, hoping to become a Certified Public Accountant. While he spends most of his time in the back office, you will often see Manuel in the clinic helping patients with insurance questions or scheduling appointments. Manuel always likes to go the extra mile to improve the efficiency of the clinic. In his free time he likes working out and spending time with family and friends. | ||
Sarah earned her Bachelor's degree in Art History with a minor in Spanish from the University of California at Irvine. While at UCI she was on the Dean's List and studied abroad in Spain. At Wellspring she enjoys working on special projects and helps out with scheduling appointments. She enjoys reading, playing softball, traveling, camping and horseback riding | ||
Jackie graduated from Glendale Career College as a Medical Assistant and works full-time in the front and back offices. Her responsibilities include helping schedule appointments, checking insurance authorizations, and keeping patient records updated. She also enjoys assisting patients with hand therapy. Not only does she work full-time at Wellspring, Jackie also helps out in her family’s business. Whenever she has the opportunity, she loves to travel and shop. | ||
Narine is a full-time student at UCLA with a major in biology. Her goal is to attend medical school. Narine performs part-time staff duties in the back office; and assists with updating patient records and preparing marketing materials. She is an Officer in her Honors Biology Club at school and enjoys her volunteer work at Glendale Adventist Medical Center. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, photography, and listening to music. | ||
John is currently attending Pasadena City College where he is studying Business Administration. He plans to transfer to California State University, Northridge to continue his education. John believes that the best way to live life is to live every day as if it were your last. In his free time John enjoys basketball, working out and camping. | ||
Vannessa is a team player and enjoys working with people and helping them progress with their conditions. She is a certified computerized office administrator, and plans to continue her education in physical therapy. She loves spending time with her family, shopping, bowling, traveling and seeing movies. | ||
Hema is currently a full time student and working full time in the front office. She is completing her last few classes at Glendale Community College and is in the process of transferring to California State University of Northridge as a Psychology major. She loves meeting new people and enjoying life as it is. During her spare time she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, going out to new places and meeting new people. After graduation from CSUN, she is looking forward to expanding her education by transferring to UCLA for her master's degree in her dream profession.
